There is something deeply unsettling about meeting a stranger who looks at you like he remembers how you taste.
That is Ra’s problem with Lion Roch.
Lion does not stare at her with ordinary attraction.
His gaze carries grief.
Recognition.
Possession he is trying very hard not to reveal before dinner.
Ra feels the connection immediately, but her memories offer no explanation. Her body responds. Her instincts sharpen. Some hidden place inside her leans toward him while the rest of her is still asking who the hell invited this man.
Mehen certainly did not.
Lion believes parts of his memory were erased. He recalls flashes of Ra, an older bond, and a prophecy that once included him before somebody conveniently revised the celestial paperwork.
That somebody appears to be Mehen.
Awkward.
Mehen has built an entire future around the claim that he and Ra belong together within the Prophecy of the Shars. He expects her loyalty, public support, and participation in the Ascendant Protocol.
Lion’s existence suggests the story may have been altered.
And if Mehen erased Lion from the prophecy, what else did he remove?
Ra’s memories?
Her former choices?
An entire love?
That is what makes Lion dangerous.
He is not merely offering attraction.
He is offering evidence that Ra’s life may have been rewritten without her consent.
Picture the private confrontation.
Lion corners her in a shadowed corridor of the Roman villa, close enough that she can feel the heat radiating from him.
“You still tilt your head when you know someone is lying,” he says.
Ra’s breath catches. “You don’t know me.”
His gaze drops briefly to her mouth.
“I knew you before he taught you to say that.”
Sir.
That is not conversation.
That is emotional vandalism.
Ra should walk away.
Instead, she asks the question that could destroy everything:
“What were we?”
Lion steps closer.
“Something he feared.”
And somewhere in another room, Mehen’s jealousy probably activates like an ancient security system.
Ra is not interested in becoming the prize in a cosmic argument. But if Lion holds the truth about who she was, she will follow the trail—even if it leads through desire, betrayal, and a history powerful men tried to bury.
Because forgetting a love does not mean it stopped existing.
Sometimes the body keeps the evidence.
